VOTING IS OPEN!

It’s time to vote for your Male Club Captain (no need to vote for the female deputy as we had one applicant).  It’s one vote per person, you have to be a member of Sharks and under the age of 18yrs. The closing day is next Sunday 16th June and the results will be announced at the AGM on 22nd June.  Good luck boys!

Alfie and Ethan have written a little about themselves to help with your decision making:

ALFIE DUNCAN

Hi Sharks, many of you know who I am but if you don’t here’s a little bit about me.  I’m Alfie Duncan and I have been skiing since I was 2 years old, I’ve been a member of Sharks since I was 4!  Molly allowed me to join early

I love Sharks!  It’s a great club but not just because of the skiing, I also really like the people, the coaches, the family atmosphere and the social events.  I’ve made some really good friends in Sharks.

Over the years of being in Sharks I have developed my skiing skills, progressed through the groups and I’m now improving the racing side of skiing.  I love representing the club at races and encourage other Sharks to have a go.  Hopefully later in the year I will begin my Level 1 instructor training course which I’m really looking forward to.

So, why should I be your club captain?

I want to see more fun events in and outside of the club, fancy dress on the slope, themed ski days, fun races, family days and increase the charity events. It’s so nice when we all come together and raise money for a good cause.

It would also be nice to organise race merchandise for us to wear – we are after all representing Sharks and I want people to know that we are proud to represent our club.  I know we aren’t a race club but racing is a small part of Sharks which some of us enjoy.

One thing that has been talked about is having a Youth Committee, I’d like to listen to your ideas and take these to the committee and get them agreed (after all its not just the adults that have good ideas!).  I want to help move Sharks forward.

When new members join us, as part of their induction, I would like a few of us to talk to them so that we can introduce ourselves and they have a friendly face to talk to.

So, vote for me (I’m the the ginger one ) if you want to have fun, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

ETHAN HAYWARD

Hello Sharks, I would like to put myself forward to become male club captain.

My name is Ethan Hayward and I have been skiing with Sharks Ski Club for 6 years. In this time, I have improved my skiing ability with the help of all the great coaches. Before sharks I enjoyed skiing but now after joining Sharks, I look forward to the weekend so that I can meet up with friends and participate in the thing I love the most -skiing.

I am currently shadowing and giving supervised lessons to get my Snowsports England Instructors level 1 so I can spread my joy of skiing with the younger ones. Over the past couple of years, I have also gained confidence from the training I have received to compete for the club at many different competitions including Pendle Winter League, Rossindale summer league and other national races.

As part of being club captain I would like to carry on the fun dress up sessions such as: Halloween, Christmas and May the 4th be with you. I want everyone no matter their ability to have fun and gain new skills on the slope. Being part of Sharks is about meeting new people, sharing the fun of skiing while improving people’s confidence and skills on the slope. I will always be willing to take time out with anyone to help them in any way that I can.
