Rother Valley Barbecue

Hi everyone,

Don’t forget that the barbecue at Rother Valley is happening on the 2nd September at 12:30. Feel free to bring a picnic or portable barbecue, all barbecues are fine as long as they are raised above the ground. There will be games such as football and rounders, and if you have any other ideas feel free to let one of us know or simply bring something along on the day. We always have a great time and a lot of laughs so bring the whole family along.

We will be meeting by the lake next to the Sheffield Cable Waterski Centre as shown in the images attached. Please note there is a £5 entry fee per car to Rother Valley.

Hope to see you all there!

Pendle Summer Race Camp

Please see details below of summer race camp being held at Pendle

Hi All

It’s that time of year again to share information about yet another Pendle Summer Race Camp. Believe it or not, it is now 10 years since Jo and I began running our summer camps at, firstly Rossendale and, more latterly, Pendle (!!)

The camp will be following the usual format and run in the same way as always, following our tried and tested formula, but full details can be found below and attached.

Please feel free to get in touch if you’d like to discuss further,

Benn Hall

13-17th August 2018

Pendle Ski Club

£220 for the week

£55 per day

Please feel free to circulate this email/flyer around any friends/colleagues/club members that you think it might be of interest to.

Hopefully this will be of interest again to those who have attended past camps, and indeed to any new racers (or new to the Pendle Summer Camp!) out there who would like to get involved in a 5-day summer ski race camp that brings a mixture of training and fun skiing activities in the middle of August. Any young skier – whether a seasoned racer to perhaps a first-time racer or Saturday club skier – is more than welcome. We always have a range of abilities and a range of ages amongst attendees. But if you have any questions about the suitability of the camp for your child, please do just get in touch.

If you are interested in booking on, please send an email to Benn Hall (bennhall@me.com) to confirm your place. We would also be grateful if you could complete and return the attached booking form and medical form. These can be returned either by post or email (they can be completed electronically if easier). Payment can be made by BACs or cheque/cash.

And, of course, if you have any questions about the camp, please do not hesitate to get in contact either by email or phone (details below).

As always, we look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces alike, and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in August.

Summer Races Information

Hi Sharks

A couple of upcoming Race Events that you may be interested in are as follows:

The next date for Festival Park Ski Clubs Summer Race League is Saturday 16th June. Either pre-register or enter on the day but do remember to e-mail your intent to stokeskiraces@hotmail.com – all the registration details are shown within the Race Poster. Feel free to keep me in the loop so I have an idea of who is attending.

The format will be two individual timed runs through a slalom course to determine how you stand within your age group on the day. You’d then be placed into groups of four according to your quickest timed run for the second session of the day, dual slalom head to head races – very exciting and great fun!

The event is open to all ages and abilities, they’re fun, they’re not pressured and you’d be amongst friends.

Rossendale have just released their Summer Race League dates – Sundays 15th July, 19th August and 23rdSeptember.

The race format is the same as Stokes but you will need to register through me rather than directly with the club. So if you’d like to register for Rossendale or if you’re new to dry slope slalom racing and you need more information please e-mail mepaul@moonlight-textiles.co.uk or text/message me on: 07774 845 444 (under 18’s please copy in a parent/guardian).

AGM 9th June 2018

Dear Sharks Members,

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting on 9th June.
The Meeting will start at 11:30 after the Skiing Session at Castleford.

This will be a great opportunity to hear updates from our team regarding the last years activity at Sharks.  We will also be confirming the Committee Members for the coming year, and receive the annual accounts.

If anyone is interested in joining the committee, then please email me with your nomination.

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Club Captain Nominations

Dear Sharks,

Our male Club Captain, Oscar Bandmann, will be stepping down from his role of Club Captain at the upcoming AGM, and we are looking for someone to replace him.

The Club Captains sit on the Sharks Ski Club Committee to represent the views of our younger members. They also arrange fun social events, and competitions, throughout the year.

If anyone is interested in becoming the new Club Captain, to work alongside Grace, who is staying on for another year in her role as our female CLub Captain, then please send me your nominations.

We will then organise a vote, and announce the winner at the AGM.

I look forward to hearing from you.
